“Interior design has always been a passion of mine and I especially love pieces that have some history when I’m designing a space.”
“Upcycling furniture is growing in popularity as it’s great for saving money and waste and helping to be sustainable and all it takes is a little imagination. One of the best parts of buying preloved furniture as it’s generally well made as it’s already stood the test of time. The pieces often have more personality and you less likely to see it at your friend’s house. I found this wonderful sideboard in my local Hospice in the Weald furniture shop in Tunbridge Wells. I had previously bought a large dresser in this store as they have so many donations of amazing preloved furniture so I like to visit regularly.
The sideboard I discovered was very well made in pine but just looked dated and needed a little bit sanding and filling over some little dents. This piece was going to be used in a playroom so I painted it in a soft pink and added little brass bow handles and then it had a whole new lease of life.
By buying preloved furniture it may take a little more time to make your own but it will have more character and it won’t break the bank so I would always recommend giving it a go!”
