We need to raise over £8 million every year to provide outstanding Hospice care to the local community. To get involved with our fundraising activities, design your own, or make a donation, use the information on this page.
Peter has been volunteering for Hospice in the Weald for over 7 years. Whilst he may not seem like a familiar face in the Hospice itself, he certainly is for the shops and businesses around Tunbridge Wells, where he exchanges collection pots on a regular basis.
When Peter retired, he wanted to give something back to his community. “I had heard what a wonderful organisation Hospice in the Weald was. Family and friends had shared stories time and again of their experience with Hospice when a loved one was dying – the extraordinary care given and compassion shown. I wanted to be a part of that.”
Recently, Peter passed a significant milestone in his role as a collection box agent – having counted a staggering £24,000 in coins from collection pots. Chiara Creates, Relationship Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, explains how valuable Peter is. “Without Peter so generously giving his time, we would not be able to rely on these donations coming in. It’s only because of him that local shops and businesses choose to support us. He really understands how vital our work is and will go the extra mile to make sure business owners recognise how much we need them. £24,000 is a huge amount, and we are so grateful to Peter for helping us raise this – thank you, Peter!”
Peter’s ambition now is to pass the £25,000 mark and he’s certainly got lots of support from everyone at the Hospice to help him get there. Watch this space!
