Hospice in the Weald is delighted to confirm that its Christmas Market, which took place on 23rd – 24th November, has raised an incredible £30,000 so far! On what was a blustery weekend, more than 3,000 supporters braved the weather to show their incredible support.
Held at the Hospice’s Pembury site, the much-loved festive event featured a record 50 stalls and was packed full of seasonal fun; Father Christmas welcomed many visitors to his Grotto, while stallholders were flooded with interest from excited and generous shoppers.
The Hospice’s Fundraising Director, Alison Mitchell, said: “It was a great success. We had thousands of attendees join us to visit the wonderful stalls in both our Holly Marquee and our Living well area, which was transformed to create a festive market atmosphere.
“Father Christmas joined us despite the windy weather, bringing gifts and magic to our visitors, young and old. We are grateful for all the community support which has helped us raise £30,000 enabling us to deliver our vital services helping many local patients and families.”
The more ‘creative’ attendees flocked to the Wreath Making Workshops, and there was an array of winter-inspired food and drink on offer. This was topped off with plenty of music and laughter, from staff, volunteers, stallholders and supporters alike.
Deborah Orson, one of the record-number of stallholders at the market with Cheese Bomb Gifts, said: “Thank you so much for inviting us back for our 12th year! This was one of the best years we’ve had, which is surprising considering the weather challenges that were bestowed on us!”
Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, Lisa Browning, also shared her thoughts on the successful weekend. “It was a wonderful event, and we are so thankful to everyone who supported us across the two days,” she said. “We are so proud of the money that has been raised so far.”
The Hospice has plenty of exciting Christmas events still to come, including Carols at Christmas and Children’s Christmas Celebration, which both take place at the prestigious Tonbridge School Chapel on 17th December.
