Living with a poorly child can be tough. Their needs can sometimes be challenging for the whole family, meaning that siblings and parents become carers, first-off, and don’t take time to look after themselves.
Family life is precious, and we want to make sure that the strain is off so you can enjoy it.
Practical Support
We’re not just here to look after sick children – we know that there’s much more that gets left by the wayside in life when things get busy, and caring takes over. Our team of practical support volunteers can help with the things that slip aside, like housework, help with siblings, or simply just as a listening ear.
We want you to feel like parents and loved ones, not just carers. It’s important for you to have time for yourself to do what matters to you and take care of other aspects of your life.
Whether that be having the time to do the chores that often get forgotten or making time for you to spend some quality moments with the rest of your family and friends, we exist to help you and your child(ren).
Emotional Support
Anyone under Hospice in the Weald services has the opportunity to access emotional support through our Counselling and Support Service, which is available to both children and families.
Our counselling is free and is accessible to all families that have a child registered with our Hospice or has a connection with any other local Hospice.
Our therapeutic support for children and families has greater flexibility than individual counselling. Sessions are shaped to suit each family with their individual needs and preferences for as long as is required.
