We invite you to be a part of our special afternoon of remembrance.
At Hospice in the Weald we understand how deeply a bereavement can affect you, recognising that significant dates – like Christmas – can be challenging for many people. Join us anytime between 1pm and 4pm for an informal afternoon tea, with a chance to speak to members of the Hospice Chaplaincy and Counselling team, who will be offering pastoral and spiritual support. A lantern of light will be lit at 3pm in a collective moment of reflection and remembrance, and there will also be the opportunity to dedicate a star on our Light Up a Life tree.
The afternoon is free. We encourage anyone from our local community to attend and get the support they need. We hope to see you there.
You are also welcome to join us at the Hospice in Pembury for our formal Light Up a Life Remembrance Service, where you can enjoy music, readings, poems and light a candle for someone you love. You can find out more about the event here
Registration is not compulsory, but we would be grateful to know if you are planning to join us
Remember someone special this Christmas with a star dedicated in their memory on our Light Up a Life Christmas tree and a Light Up a Life online dedication.
Your Light Up a Life star will lovingly hold the name of your loved one on a Christmas tree at the Cottage Hospice, or the Hospice in Pembury throughout December.
We politely request that you RSVP to attend either the Light Up a Life Remembrance drop in at the Cottage Hospice, or the Light Up a Life Remembrance service at the Hospice in Pembury. This helps us to ensure the safety of all those attending, and cater appropriately.
Please note there will be no parking available on site at Cottage Hospice due to a limited number of spaces required for visitors. Please find alternative parking in Five Ashes. Where available, parking will be possible onsite for those in possession of a Blue badge.
A complimentary afternoon tea will be served during the Light Up a Life Remembrance drop in. You are welcome to join us at anytime between 1pm and 4pm. A lantern of light will be lit at 3pm in a collective moment of reflection and remembrance.
Yes, if you made a donation online, over the phone, or by post on or before 29th November, your star will be displayed on the tree of your choice at the event and then throughout December. Your loved ones name will also be displayed on our online wall of remembrance.
Donations received on or after 29th November may not be displayed in time for the service, but will be displayed for the remainder of December, and your loved ones name will also be added to our online wall of remembrance.
You are also welcome to make a dedication at the event, stars will be available.
Yes, you are welcome to bring your star(s) with you, or you can collect one at either event. Volunteers will be on hand to help you to make your dedication, ensuring your loved ones name is captured on our online dedication page.
We are not printing a Book of Remembrance for Light Up a Life this year. We made the decision this year to use an online dedication page which will display the names of all those being remembered during the Light Up a Life appeal. You are welcome to add further dedications as well as pictures, messages and memories.
